Lawyer Revisor - Law Firm

Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Lawyer–Reviser for its client, an internationally renowned law firm based in downtown Montreal.

The Linguistic Services team translates and revises various documents for clients as well as for the firm’s business services. The Lawyer–Reviser works closely with the firm’s lawyers and clients and, to a lesser extent, with members of the firm’s business services.

The Lawyer–Reviser reviews translations from a legal standpoint in both French and English across various areas of law. This individual will act as a linguistic and legal expert, revising, editing, and occasionally translating specialized legal texts, such as commercial contracts and documents related to securities and capital markets. The incumbent ensures consistency, precision, and legal accuracy while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Review, from a legal standpoint, French and English translations prepared by the team for the firm’s clients and provide an opinion on the legal and financial aspects of the translation, if necessary, while meeting often tight deadlines

• Provide feedback to translators and discuss it, as needed

• Manage complex client files, including:

• Receive client requests and provide end-to-end client service throughout the mandate

• Coordinate translation assignments with translators, proofreader-revisers, and support staff through to delivery of the work to clients

• Communicate with external clients, printers, lawyers, and other stakeholders involved in the files

• Communicate with freelancers and external service providers

• Take responsibility for decisions regarding processes, legal terminology to be used, and the budget allocated to files

• Serve as the point of contact for clients during the execution of their mandates

• Bill fees in accordance with the pre-established budget

Requirements

• Member of a provincial Bar with at least 5 years of experience in business and commercial law

• Good knowledge of finance, accounting, and securities law

• Relevant experience in a language services department, an asset

• Excellent command of French and English

• Familiarity with AI platforms, CAT tools, and Translation Management Systems (TMS), an asset
